The report reveals important changes in the evolution of the
digital camera market, including shifts in channel shopping,
purchasing and usage. Personal use of the digital camera in winter
2000 was 61%, a 13% increase from 1999. The report also shows that
while 32% of digital camera owners are taking the same amount of
pictures, 62% of digital camera owners are taking more pictures than
ever.
NPD INTELECT Senior Manager of Imaging, Neil Portnoy commented, "The
camera market is more complex and segmented than ever, due to the
explosion of digital cameras. These owners are finding new ways to
use their cameras everyday. Digital camera owners are e-mailing
pictures to their friends and relatives, building personal web pages,
creating digital photo albums, and are even using their digital
images to have Internet garage sales on eBay. We will continue to
track these changes in future reports."
